LOUNGING AROUND (carpetright makeover)

lounge

Kids are great and all, but let’s be real – they do not mix well with interior design.

When we first moved in to our place we had a newborn and a two-year-old, so we deliberately put down budget carpet that would last us through the worst of the destructive stage. We chose a bland sandy colour, flecked with dark brown, in the hope it would hide the worst of the baby mess. It got did the trick, more or less, until the morning I came downstairs to find the girls had opened up some t-shirt paints and spilt them all over the carpet. Then, when I tried to sponge them out I simply made the red and blue patches bigger. Sigh.

We put up with it for a few more months until, finally, I couldn’t bear it for a minute longer. That’s when the team at Carpetright came to our rescue. ‘Will you help us escape our ugly carpet hell?!’ I pleaded. And they did. ‘We’ll help you transform your living room,’ they offered, and gave us access to their Aladdin’s Cave of carpets.

Squeeeeeeee!

This time round we decided not to play it safe, and go for the LAKESIDE SILVER STRIPE – a bold stripe in shades of brown and grey. At only £12.99 per metre this would cost just under £250, including fitting, to carpet the front room (bargain!) and it has a 15-year stain warranty that will be music to any parents’ ears. And, at that price, if the girls ever decide to hold another impromptu painting party, it won’t break the bank to replace again!

Anyway, you’ve seen the before and after shots… what do you think??

I love it!!! I don’t know that i would ever be brave enough to go so bold on a carpet in case i didn’t like it. although saying that we have seen a stripy bathroom floor we quite fancy so perhaps we shall start small!! 😉

    • I’ve always a been a ‘play it safe’ person but I ended up absolutely HATING the boring old beige carpet so my desire to erase it completely from my memory gave me the push I needed, haha! Still, I was a bit nervous until I saw it all laid down – it’s so hard to visualise the end result until you see it with your own eyes. xx

I love it. Perhaps they would like to do our stairs and tiny landing in exchange for a blog post!
