Sometimes those Magic Moments come when you least expect them.
Like most of the UK, we woke up this morning to find the street outside transformed into a sparkling white winter wonderland. My first thought was; ‘Ooooh, pretty!’ My second was: ‘Ooooh, how am I going to get the girls to nursery/school?’
We live on a steep street, which pretty much turns into a luge when the temperatures hit zero. Still, the snow wasn’t that thick, so I fancied my chances getting down the hill… until I watched my neighbour skidding past our house, sliding to a stop, and abandoning his car in the middle of the road. Turns out the snow wasn’t that thick, but the slick slab of ice under it was…
Which meant we were housebound until it had melted enough to make driving slightly less death-defying. Which meant… IMPROMPTU SNOW MORNING! The girls couldn’t wait to get their hats and gloves on and get outside.
Big Sis has always loved snow, but Lil Sis was less enamoured with her first introduction:
Luckily time has healed her snow wounds, and this time her experience with the white stuff was much more pleasant…

Both girls had a blast chasing each other around, throwing snowballs, and building teeny-weeny snowmen with raisin mouths, and butternut squash wedge noses (I didn’t have any carrots, OK?!).
‘Mummy this is SO much more fun than maths!’ Big Sis squealed. And it really was. But all too soon the ice had melted, our snow morning was over, and it was time to face reality… but with big, happy smiles on all of our faces.
