Finally! After 15 months my daughter has been trained to give kisses on demand. It took her a bit of time to get the hang of it, and I had my fair share of head butts while she ironed out her technique, but now it’s been perfected. The other night I actually got six completely unsolicited kisses in a row – they were coming so thick and fast she was like an overactive woodpecker. OK, it was a little bittersweet, as she had a stinking cold, and her streaming nose ended up smeared all over me, but the sentiment was still there. It’s just nice to feel appreciated, even when it comes with a side order of snot.

It’s so lovely when they kiss you. When my son was very little I loved the way he’d throw his chubby little arms around my neck. So precious. Then they stop wanting to kiss or hug you at all!
Hey Jacqui.
You’re a journo. And a features journo – that was me too until a year ago when I quit the paper I was on. But boy oh boy did I love my job so it’s great to meet a fellow scribe!
Your little girl is geeorgeous – snot and all! x
Hey Tara, You’re more hardcore than me!! I’ve always been a magazine journalist, and never had the guts to work in a news room. Came close once – at the Daily Mail – but didn’t end up getting the job. I heard so many horror stories afterwards that I breathed a sigh of relief. I’m way too passive for a daily publication… I found the pace of a weekly stressful enough!!
I’m sure you’ll have lots of kisses to look forward to! You get out what you put in,so keep kissing! Look forward to hearing your tips x
arrrrr your so lucky, im still at head butt stage my boys kisses are normally mouth wide open with tongue sticking out which i find quite gross but it must mean he loves his mummy
It’s so lovely to finally get some real appreciation, after 15 months of feeding, nappies, cleaning, broken sleep, early mornings, and screaming fits. It makes all that not-so-nice stuff completely disappear!!
