Ladies. Have I got some fantastic news for you! You need never do a sit up again. Isn’t that fab? Turns out they’re not even that good for flattening your abs – in fact the strain can actually force them outwards, making your stomach appear bigger! Who knew?
Certainly not me – if it wasn’t for the Mutu System, I’d still be puffing and panting away with my counter-productive crunches.
Two babies in two years and a penchant for junky, sugary snacks had left me with the dreaded Mum Tum. So, just over a month ago, I embarked on the MuTu System.
It was designed by Wendy Powell, a pre and postpartum exercise specialist and Mum of two. Not that you can tell by her ridiculously flat washboard abs, and complete lack of any discernible body fat. Which is exactly why I trusted her when she said I would see a difference with just 15 minutes a day.
I’m not going to give away all her secrets, but Wendy teams healthy eating with pilates, yoga and pelvic floor exercises. The best part is that you get each weekly workout as an online video, which is backed up with piles of info and advice on her website. AND she’s on hand via email and Twitter for any quick queries you have.
It’s like having your own personal trainer on call. Perfect for me, because I can slot the routines around my busy day.
So, how am I going? Well, I’m not going to pretend that I’m perfect, but I’m definitely pulling my fitness socks up.
I’ve started drinking water instead of just coffee and Coke Zero. I’m remembering (most of the time) to activate my TA muscles (that’s Transverse Abdominus, to you). I’m even following my video workouts – maybe not everyday, but as often as I can. And I’m really enjoying them – especially the pilates moves, and the lovely stretches!
I’m trying to tweak my diet by cutting down on the sugary foods I’d been eating since Lil Sis was born. I had been using the excuse that I was breastfeeding to justify my sweet tooth – even though I kept on snacking long after she was weaned.
There’s still a lot of room for improvement, but I’ve been more careful to prepare meals with fresh veggies and ingredients, and cook dishes from scratch.
I’ve noticed a marked difference already, to the way I look, and the way I feel about myself. OH asked if I’d lost weight the other day, and he didn’t even know I’d started the MuTu System, so it must be doing something!
I’ve also restarted listening to my Thinking Slimmer Lose a Dress Size Slimpod too – it worked a treat a few months back, stopping me from snacking and taking me from a 10/12 back to a small 10 in just a few weeks.
Recently I’d felt my junky snack habits creeping back in, so I’ve listened to it every other night for the past week. I’m still completely in awe about how well this works (I can vouch for myself, and have seen loads of people raving about it on Twitter).
All you have to do is listen to the Slimpod while you’re drifting off to sleep and its specially worded messages target your subconscious. To be honest I don’t truly understand how it works, and I don’t really care – so long as it does!!
So… I’ll keep you posted on how I go…

Way to go! I’m on a detox week right now. Been eating too much junk and then Thanksgiving came around. I also found that not drinking coffee helped, but I have been having serious withdrawl symptoms! ha. Miss seeing you, hope you and the girls are good 😉
well done
