It’s a bit of a joke in our household that OH isn’t allowed to shop on his own.
This policy was introduced after many, many inadvertent fashion faux pas – like the time he ordered a pair of jeans on the internet, only to discover on arrival they had a seam of green sequins stitched down the length of each leg.
Mistakes aside, it’s fair to say his tastes lean slightly towards the eccentric. He got away with it (just) in his 20’s and 30’s, but now he’s approaching 40 it’s definitely time for his wardrobe to grow up too.
We’re heading off for our first big family holiday in a month, and OH is in desperate need of some decent beach clothes. When the REPERTOIRE FASHION team invited me to celebrate Father’s Day by picking a couple of items from their online designer range, I headed straight for the swimwear.
I knew what I was looking for – something classic and comfortable, that still looked dressy enough to be worn as shorts around the pool. I found a great pair of navy blue Hugo Boss swimming trunks (£46.06) with a contemporary short leg length.
Next I clicked over to the t-shirts, and selected those holiday wardrobe staples – a two-pack of Hugo Boss orange label white v-neck tee’s (£55).
I’d ordered them as an early Father’s Day surprise for OH, and the girls presented the parcel to him earlier this week.
He’d never splashed out on t-shirts before – he’d always assumed you couldn’t really go wrong with a basic tee, so why spend more than you had to? But the difference between these and the ones he usually bought was night and day.
The cotton was thick and soft, and the cut was really flattering. It was a lesson to both of us that you really do get what you pay for. He’s already planning to head back to Repertoire to explore the other designer labels, and pick up some more summer essentials for our trip. Bon voyage!
