It’s been a while since I’ve done a Spread a Smile post but, boy, is this one a doozy!!

Lots of you will already know the lovely Roz via her blogs, and from Twitter (@rozzibee). You’re probably already familiar with her story. If not, here’s the run down…

Last February 2010, when her gorgeous son Jake was just 8 months old, she received the devastating news that she had Hodgkin’s Lympoma – cancer of the lymphatic system.

She’d actually gone to the doctors in August 2009, after diagnosing herself. It took doctors six long months to take her seriously, and reach the same conclusion.

The day after she was diagnosed, she set up a blog, ‘KIN HODGKIN’S detailing her ups and downs, as she fought the disease.

After several gruelling rounds of chemo, in September she was declared in remission. But she and hubby Neil couldn’t even celebrate, because doctors had now found a ‘hotspot’ on her thyroid. Three months later, they received the news they’d been dreading. Roz had thyroid cancer. It was completely unrelated to her Hodgkin’s – just horrifically bad luck. 

She was 29.

Where many might have, justifiably, fallen apart Roz was amazingly pragmatic. In comparison to what I’ve already been through, this will be a walk in the park, she wrote on her blog. She even found time to fundraise for the LYMPHOMA ASSOCIATION by doing a sponsored skydive (which came with its own complications – but that’s another story!)

In February she had surgery to remove her malignant thyroid, marking the end of a pretty bloody awful 12 months.

But life is on the up these days. Roz is looking fab (I know, ’cause I saw her at CyberMummy) and she has officially kicked cancer’s ass… TWICE! And to reflect this fresh start, she’s just launched a brand new blog called LIFE, LOVE AND LOLLIPOPS.

This blog isn’t just about cancer, it’s about moving on, and reclaiming her life, and refusing to let it define her for a moment longer.
