THE GALLERY (nice ice, baby)

This week’s Gallery prompt is ‘Water’ so I’ve used a teensy bit of creative licence. This is actually water in its solid form, often referred to by, well, everyone really, as ‘Ice’.
If you hadn’t guessed, it was taken in the lobby of Sweden’s famous Ice Hotel.
Every year specialist ice architects cut huge slabs of ice from the nearby Torne River and carve them into pillars, and walls, and frozen furniture, and stunningly ornate murals and chandeliers. They create bedrooms, and a chapel, and a restaurant, and the famous Ice Bar – complete with ice-carved drinking glasses.
Then, come the warmer weather, they watch all their hard work simply melt away. In November work begins anew – every year the hotel is built to a completely different design.
It is truly amazing, and a definite for your Bucket List!!

(I can’t seem to insert The Gallery code this week, so head HERE for more interpretations of this week’s theme.)
