It’s coming up to three years since we completed our big home renovation.
Which means, even though we still have some smaller projects to finish (the downstairs bathroom still needs fitting out, and we’ve only just replaced the lounge carpet) there are already jobs that need redoing.
My youngest’s bedroom was the first room in the house to be completed and originally had an enchanted woodland theme that I carefully chose and curated.
It was perfect for a seven year old, but she’s 10 now and wants to put her own stamp on the room. So, I’ve had to relax my interior design dictatorship, and let her have some creative control. Gulp.
The look she’s going for, apparently, is ‘colourful Indie-style’ (no, I don’t know either – apparently it’s a TikTok thing?).
A couple of ideas I’ve had to nix outright (completely repainting the room), but I’ve (grudgingly) agreed to others, like faux ivy fines, LED strips running around her room and a photo wall. Also, in a move that’s giving me total 90’s flashbacks, she’s also evolved from loving llamas to butterflies.
As much as I want to encourage her growing independence and creativity, I also want to make sure the room looks classy and cohesive, so I’ve been overseeing her design process.

When it comes time to take down completely, just carefully peel the stickers back from the surface, applying a little heat (a hairdryer does the trick) if you get any resistance. When it comes time to remove them, they come away cleanly and completely, without leaving a sticky residue
