LITTLE CHANGES – BIG DIFFERENCES (smart swap)

Once upon a time there was a girl who smoke, drank and had convinced herself a Big Mac was a balanced meal (carbohydrates – the bun; protein – the patty; vegetables – the lettuce; grains – the seeds on top the bun).

But with age and (debatable) maturity came the realisation that a little effort can go a long way to improving your family’s diet, and health.

Which is why Change4Life are asking families to make one teensy change this January, as part of their SMART SWAPS campaign. Everyone who signs up will receive a nifty Smart Swapper tool, full of easy food substitutions that you can make at home, as well as money-off vouchers, fridge magnets, and a free Smart Recipes app so you can always make nutritious, low-fat choices.

And, yes, I’m practising what I preach! Although Big Macs no longer form the core of my weekly diet, I have to confess to another vice: Coca Cola. So this month I’m replacing the super-sweet fizzies with bottled water. And, do you know what? It hasn’t been that hard, I don’t miss it, and feel much better for it already!

What Smart Swap would you make?
