The beginning of this last week, quite frankly, sucked.
Nothing really serious went wrong, and I know I should be thankful that all my concerns are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. But you know when loads of little niggles build up, until you’re ready to explode?? Yeah, it was one of those days.
The house was driving me a bit nuts – we still don’t have cupboards, or wardrobes, or drawers yet, so there were clothes stacked in piles everywhere. Except they didn’t stay in piles for long. Three minutes with Toddler Girl and the house looked like a TopShop sale table. The fridge was out in the conservatory, and the washing was hanging up in my dining room. None of it the end of the world, but all of it highly annoying.
Then, I opened the window blinds we’d ordered to find they’d sent us the wrong colour. Then I discovered a huge crack in the frame of our brand new bed. Then I finally got both girls in the car to take them to the local Toddler Group, and the car wouldn’t start. Aaaaaaaaarrrrgh!!!!
Like I said – small things, but enough to make me want to crawl back into bed.
But my rough start had a real turn around, thanks to some lovely friends, rellies, and Blogging Buddies. On Tuesday, I got this in the post from the lovely ladies at Azaria PR:

It’s a scrummy shortbread biscuit with this lovely message printed into the icing. How cute is that??? BTW – the scrape on the side isn’t delivery damage – it’s where Toddler Girl grabbed the biccie, ran down the hallway, and took a bite before I could stop her.
Then, on Wednesday, this arrived from the team at Montagne Jeunesse…
Either they figured I deserved a little me-time, or they saw the photos on my blog and simply had to do something about my dull, tired complexion. Either way, my skin wins.
On Friday I had the biggest and bestest surprise of all – the lovely Karin from Cafe Bébé picked me as the British Mummy Bloggers’ Blogger of the Week! Amazed was not the word – more like flabbergasted, gobsmacked, incredulous… shall I go on??
And then, yesterday morning, the doorbell rang and these were delivered:
Aren’t they just fantabulous?? They’re from OH’s Aunty and Uncle, and two cousins. They know we’re a bit fraught with everything going on at the moment, and sent us these remind us that it’ll all settle down soon. Ain’t that just the sweetest??
So if that’s how a rubbish week ends up, I’ll have more of them please!!!
Update – 0100 AM 7/2/11: I’ve just had some more amazing news to round off my week. Just before heading off to bed, I checked the latest February Tots 100 results. I’ve never even come close to cracking the top 100 before, but each month I scan the list anyway. No harm in dreaming, huh?? But guess who I found lurking at Number 55…

That all sounds superb. I believe good things happen to good people. Your karma must have been ready for some well deserved treats.
Lucky you. Enjoy 🙂
