I’m no Delia Smith. I don’t say that in a ‘fishing for compliments, hoping you’ll disagree with me’ kind’ve way – I’m really just not that great at cooking!
But, as Toddler Girl gets older and is able to do more fun stuff, I’m actually enjoying doing all those cakey-bakey type activities with her.
Just before we moved out of our old flat we attempted banana cupcakes. I chose the recipe from our Little Dish cookbook, because they use good-for-you ingredients such as wholewheat flour, and fresh fruit. In fact they’re so healthy it’s practically like eating broccoli (previous statement may not be entirely true).
With a stroke of good timing, I’d just been offered the chance to try the Sweet Treats Cupcake Maker, by Sensio Home (the same people who make Gordon Ramsey kitchen electricals).
It bakes six mini-cupcakes at a time, and pretty much removes any chance of me stuffing up the cooking times.
So Toddler and I prepared the mixture, spooned it into the cupcake maker, closed the lid and let it work its magic. They must have tasted pretty good, because Toddler tucked right into them – as witnessed below…
I really liked how easy the cupcake maker was to use. It was a fun activity to do with Toddler Girl, and I also loved that it was quick, and easy to clean afterwards.
My only complaint was that the tops of the cupcakes didn’t really brown up, although they were definitely cooked right through. But I suppose that doesn’t really matter if you’re planning to ice them – which I did – with lovely thick cream cheese icing. Yummy!

Hiya,
Wow this sounds like it’s pretty easy to use, which is very important to me as not great in the kitchen. My little one is only 6 months so can’t really use her as an excuse to buy one yet (shame!)And still trying to loose the baby weight so cup cakes probably won’t help in that! Maybe for when she is a little older!
