CRAFTY KIDS (cubby kit)

I absolutely love the fact that Big Sis is old enough now to take part in arts and crafts. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of fashioning dinosaurs out of toilet rolls, and making those fold-over butterfly paintings. But children – and crafts – are more sophisticated these days (although toilet roll sculptures still ROCK!).


But I must confess, I don’t spend as much time as I would like doing crafts with the kids. I often find that once my work is completed, and all the boring household chores are out the way, I simply don’t have the time, inspiration, or motivation to start a new project. 


Which is exactly why I loved the concept behind Cubby Kits. Once a month a lovely big box arrives at your droor (addressed to your child, which I thought was a lovely touch). Inside you have everything you need to complete three different craft activities – including full instructions, good quality materials, and even all the glue, scissors, etc… 


It’s absolutely brilliant for people who are acutely unorganised (i.e, me!) and the activities are tailored for the age of your child. In our box for 3-4 year-olds we had all the gear needed to make a 3-D Rocket Picture, Mushy Martian play dough, and a Constellation Wall Chart.

Which I thought sounded a bit expensive, until I added up what I already spent – a pack of crayons and a colouring book here, some sticker sheets and pots of Play-doh there – and realised I spent at least that every month anyway.
