‘Don’t you think Big Sis needs a haircut?’ OH asked the other day.
I watched her, head thrown backwards as she attempted to peer out from under her overgrown fringe. ‘Perhaps…’ I conceded.
To be honest, Lil Sis was looking a little raggedy too, her strawberry blonde curls looking more shriek than chic. It was definitely time for her first Big Girl Haircut (Sob! Where is my baby girl going?!).
Then, just as if the hairdressing Gods were eavesdropping, I received an email from the BIGOODI children’s concept store. They were having their grand opening, and did the Monkeys fancy trying out their lovely new salon?
Did we heck!!
So off we ventured to their New King’s Rd store, in Parson’s Green, SW London. I absolutely fell in love with the funky Parisian styling – the store was painted in soft candy colours, with shabby chic furniture, and one wall devoted to a gorgeous range of kids’ clothing, jewellery and accessories.
See..?
I wanted to buy everything. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!
But the girls weren’t interested in any of that, they were already clambering up on to the salon chairs – miniature models of a New York yellow cab, an old-style police car, and a pink airplane, which Big Sis promptly claimed for her long-overdue fringe trim.
Lil Sis can be a bit wary of new people, but sat still as a statue while Mya, the lovely Bigoodi store manager, trimmed her unruly baby curls into a sleek bob.
She looked sooooo different afterwards… what do you think??
It might cost a bit more, but, for me, it’s worth paying a bit extra to get amazing service, in a magical setting, from stylists who truly love children, and know just how to get the most out of their baby-fine hair.
AND they also host kids’ birthday, and pamper parties.
Watch out Bigoodi – the Monkeys will DEFINITELY be coming back!

Wow what a cool kid’s salon!
That place looks amazing! I wish we had somewhere like that to take G. Nothing like that in Sydney yet (that I know of anyway!).
Wow this looks really good fun! I still haven’t taken Littlelish to cut her hair, I can’t bring myself to do it!!!
Ho funny, we got Ruby’s hair cut today – first real haircut. From waist length to bob. I wanted to cry. Shame the place wasn’t as lovely as yours, or the staff as good with kids. This looks great and her hair? Amazing!
It’s seriously cool – so much fun for the girls too!! x
Isn’t it fab?? I genuinely don’t mind paying a bit more because it’s an experience that the kids really enjoy x
They do look sooooooo grown up afterwards – equal parts exciting and scary!! x
Awww, that’s a massive change! Did Ruby like it??? x
Awesome place! KIds will gonna love there!
