This is me, 15-ish years ago in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, about to throw myself off a veeeeeeeeeery high canyon – and I’m not happy about it. In fact, if you were to watch the accompanying VHS video you would hear a lot of swearing. A LOT.
At the time this was the highest bungy jumping site from a man-made structure (namely Victoria Falls Bridge) in the entire world, and was a drop of 365 feet.
I didn’t jump so much as dribble off the end of the platform with a strangled yelp…
I’m not going to lie – I shut my eyes as I fell… and fell… and fell some more. When I’d been plummeting for about an hour and a half I got brave and opened them again – only to slam them shut again when I saw how much further I still had to fall.
It was horrible. I thought I was dying. I’m glad I did it, but I will N-E-V-E-R do one again. Swimming with sharks, however…

I did a bungy jump in Bali and, like you, I’m glad I did it but never again.
I would also NEVER swim with sharks! Not knowingly at least! Have you gone mad woman?

Yes, that description could fit my bungee in NZ! Although I did do it once more before I went home, I did feel a bit sick that I’d done it when the adrenalin wore off! My video did have a small amount of swearing too…

Now thank goodness I have read your account because I’ve always said I will NEVER do a bungee jump and now I know it to be true, if there was any inkling of doubt you have cleared that up.

Baby Buggy Boat: See, I find the idea of shark swimming far less frightening than bungy jumping. I’d sooner stare down Jaws than do another bloody bungy, that’s for sure!!! x
