Like all parents, we were worried about how Big Sis would feel when her younger sister arrived and she no longer had our undivided attention.
We needn’t have. From the moment we brought Lil Sis home the pair of them have been best friends. Big Sis loved her baby sister – to the point where I often had to rescue her from over-zealous hugs and kisses – and Lil Sis idolised her older sibling.
No one could make her collapse into hysterical giggles like Big Sis, and as soon as she was old enough she’d follow her everywhere, copying everything she did. As Lil Sis got older and her kooky personality came out, she was the one making her older sister laugh.
Now they’re six and eight, and although they bicker and argue and occasionally disown each other (did you read my post on SIBLING RIVALRY?), the animosity never lasts and within minutes they’re screaming with laughter again.
We’re about to embark on some big renovations, which means the girls have their own bedrooms for the very first time. They literally can’t wait, but I suspect they might also miss each other once they’re no longer bunk bed buddies.
The other day they were supposed to be going to sleep, but I kept hearing squealing instead; when I peeked in the room they were rolling around on the bed giggling hysterically. They were having so much fun I let them go – sure, routines are important, but so is laughter, and I want to make sure our house if filled with as much of that as possible.
By the way, how cute is their ROOM TO GROW grey-star fleece blanket? Perfect for snuggling up on movie night, this blanket can be machine washed and tumble dried. I’m currently using it as a bedspread for the girls, as it’s light and soft and perfect for these warmer evenings. The light-grey goes with any colour scheme, and I just love the contemporary white star design.
If you don’t know Room to Grow already, you seriously need to check it out. They have the coolest range of kids’ furniture, and I’ve got my eye on one of their High-Sleeper bunks, with a built-in desk and chest of drawers, for Big Sis’s new room. She needs somewhere to do her homework, and this would be the perfect space-saving solution.
But back to the lovely fleece blanket – how do you fancy winning one for yourself? I’m giving away a grey-star snuggle blanket, worth £25; to enter, simply follow the Rafflecopter prompts.
Good luck!

I often stand at the bottom of my boys bedroom stairs and listen to their conversations at night. When they’re supposed to be going to sleep but they are chatting away. As long as they aren’t banging around waking the toddler up, then nevermind that it’s getting late! We still do the winding down bedtime routine so I let them be
I have a brother who is 10 years younger than me and I have to say that we’re not very close
Yes, I have three siblings and we all have little ones of a similar age. We all get on better as adults than we did as kids!
Sometimes!!!!we argue fall out and then friends again
Siblings are the best I don’t know what I would do without my brothers! What is the best age gap to have? Xx
yeah but hardly ever see them
god yes!! we niggle and fight but id be lost without them! i spend a majority of time with my middle ister and always talking to my eldest.
Yep all good friends
long story but unfortunately no, not at present. i do encourage my 3 to look out for each other x
By the way, those are gorgeous gorgeous clear photos of the girls, they’d make being framed. I wish I had some as good as that of my two boys. Am I friends with my sibling? Yes, I am. My brother is 18 months or so younger than I am and we did use to fight – until he got too strong for me to tackle any more! He still remembers me sneaking into his bedroom and eating his Christmas selection boxes of chocolates after I’d polished off mine, so I think I’ve been forgiven but not forgotten on that one.
Yes,I am friends with my brother and sister.
I am now, but there were many years when I struggled with my older sister, she openly told everyone she hated me, so it wasn’t easy! I’ve always had a great relationship with my brothers though!
Yes I get on with my sister and brother.
I’m friends with both my brothers, but closer to my younger brother!
I am friends with my brother and we are in contact every week
im not close with my sister x
I lost one brother 2 years ago and the other brother is 17 years older than me and unfortunately we are not very close any more 🙁
yes
Yes I’ve always been close to my two brothers. I also wish I had a sister! 🙂
Yes but she lives too far away . I wish my son had siblings though
Yes! Good friends with my brother
Has we have got older and wiser yes I’m very close to my twin sister
Yes. We didn’t get on so well in our teens but are best friends now
Relationships with my siblings have varied over time and circumstances over the years. I was very close to one of my brothers when growing up. My first holiday abroad was with him to Italy, a wonderful holiday with happy memories. That brother unfortunately died a few months ago. My other brother has always been very busy and active, he has tended to talk with me over family matters, he is the eldest and seems to act responsibly. My sister and I have become closer over the last few years, and she gets on well with my fiancé. I think they have a similar sense of humour. She is keen that we marry, teasing us that she needs to know date first, so as she can go shopping for a suitable outfit. She enjoyed attending our Engagement party. Nice to have close relationships with siblings, good memories etc.
Nope lol but my two are inseparable!
Not really. Only time we see each other is Christmas.
Yes we are close family
Yes but I wish they lived nearer so I could see them more often.
I am an only child but look to my Auntie as my sister as she is only 3 years older and we are very close. I have a girl aged nearly 3 and a boy who is nearly 4 months old. I am hoping they will have a great friendship growing up x
i do not have any brothers or sisters
No not really, they are much much older than me though
I get on with my brother but we aren’t close
Yes, I get on well with my sister and brother and always have.
Yes i am friends with my brother and sister and we are always helping each other out
Very much so even though we live 10,000 miles apart 🙂
Yes! Even though we all have our own lives we are still very close!
yeah we are not the closest but we are not the most distant
Yes! My brother & sister live some distance away (we’re scattered in Bristol, Oxford & Belfast) but we get on really well.
I don’t have a sibling but i have three sons and i encourage them to always care for each other
Yes 🙂 I have a brother who is 3 years older than me, when we was younger we did now and then fight but usually we was always together playing, as we have got older we are even more close and now his an uncle and loves my little man to bits which is lovely 🙂
Me and brother and sisters are so so close! I am the youngest of the 4 of us, but my middle sister is only 16months older than me and we are like twins (glued at the hip)! My eldest sister and i are also very close but not as close as my other one. Likewise with my brother really, we are close but i definitely have a better relationship with my sister who is just 16months older! The funniest bit is.. Me, My middle sister and my brother all live on the same estate, infact my sister is right next door and my brother is 5 doors away! My eldest sister only lives 5 minutes away so we see eachother all the time, plus we are so close with our parents we have a reuinion almost every saturday 🙂
Usually but we had a fall out last summer and now we’re not talking. We will do eventually though, I’m just too angry at them!
Yes we are a close family
Me & my broter fought like cat & dog till we were in our twenties! But we reached a point where we became good friends & talk & see each other regularly. He spoils my kids & he & his wife spend every Christmas at ours.
I’d like to think so, we definitely get on better now that we’re older xxx
yes we are x
We are better now than when we were younger hahaha much to our parents relief!
No I don’t see them any more but my own two children are really close.
Yes, i only have the one brother but he lives at the other end of the country
I have two brothers one older and one younger I’m in the middle I get on with them both but when we were little they both got away with everything. Me being a girl got roped into cleaning jobs and shopping chores while them two fled off! They still think it’s funny now. Mind you I was very close to my mum so didn’t mind that much.
My daughter is my best friend 🙂
I am very good friends with my siblings!
I love my little brother its great having a sibling hope my son gets on with his sibling when its born
Love my sister but don’t see her often enough as she lives 200 miles away
Sadly I have none.
We aren’t as close as we were, but when we meet up its like I just saw her yesterday!
I would love to be but I don’t have any siblings.
Yes, more so now we are all adults!
I would say my sister is my best friend and my brother a close second. We killed each other an fought every day growing up. Feel so guilty now but thats sibling rivalry i guess.
yes we are
My little brother is my best friend, we have always been close
Me and my sister were best friends 🙂
I am an only child, so the concept of siblings is alien to me! I’d have loved one though
i get on with them but we dont hang out
I rarely see my brother but we do get on OK
I have a younger brother and yes we are friends now we don’t live in the same house! lol
Not really no.
I have 3 brothers and the relationship is varied with all 3. My youngest brother and I have a 10 year gap but we are incredibly close and he is always there for me and vice versa despite living a few hours away and he adores my daughter. With the other two it’s not as close but just mutual respect. My daughter is an only child and I do worry about her not having siblings and how it may effect her in the future.
Yes my sister and i are best friends
Yes we are all really close 🙂
My brother is nine years younger than me and lives a couple of hours away but we are still quite close and we will always have each other’s backs x
Yes. Im really good friends with my siblings
[…] Room to Grow Kids Fleece Blanket – https://jacquipaterson.com/2017/05/fleece-blanket.html […]
I am the eldest and my four brothers are all lovely. I am actually closest to the youngest one who is 15 years younger than me
I’m the youngest of three. Whilst we don’t see each other often we’re definitely still close
I’m good friends with my siblings and funny enough my sister is my best friend.
Yes I’m best friends with sister, we grew up really close and stayed the same as adults.
2 brothers and were all really good friends
Yes I am but see them less than I used to!
Yes we have always been close, since we were little
yes best friends 😀
Yes. She lives 12,000 miles away but we get on well.
yes, most of the time!!!!
Yes, very good friends with all 3 of them.
I have two older brothers who live in South Africa, it has been 25 years since we saw each other, but I do miss them. I speak to one of them on social media, but the other isnt connected there so it is more difficult.
I have 2 sisters and 4 brothers and am friends with all but 1 of them!
yes we are good friends
I’m an only child but my 2 kids are best friends x
No I don’t get on with my sister, but all my kids/grandkids get on, we have great family days
I am the eldest of 7 and although we can argue we all do get on and move getting all the nieces and nephews together
Unfortunately I’m an only child. I’d have loved to have siblings and as I get older and my parents get older it hurts even more. So I was determined to have more than one child and luckily I was blessed with two of them.
Yes, I get on well with my Sister.
No. My brother is an awful person. I don’t think I should go into the details here. I’m not joking.
I haven’t got any siblings
Many thanks, I am delighted to be your winner! Olivia has a new little sister due in September, so perfect timing. Enjoy the sunshine and thanks again, Kind regards, Karen
