I’ve always tried hard not to gender stereotype the girls’ wardrobe – particularly since I was never a skirt and dress girl myself – but I’ve realised you just can’t fight nature.
If it has frills, flowers or flounces, Lil Sis is guaranteed to love it.
I’d been a fan of the No Added Sugar luxury kids’ clothing range for ages (updated to add – sadly No Added Sugar has stopped trading, but you can find some lovely girls’ party dresses via my posts on Monnalisa and Roco clothing), so was thrilled when they got in touch to ask if the girls would like to try an outfit from their spring/summer range.
I wanted to surprise them so chose the outfits myself, and looking through through the brochure I knew this was Lil Sis’s dream come true: the girls’ party dresses were absolutely gorgeous; with full gathered skirts, pretty pastels and beautiful ribbon detailing.
After much to’ing and fro’ing I chose this gorgeous floral dress for her, as I knew she’d adore the colours and the floral pattern.
It arrived carefully wrapped in tissue and it was immediately obvious why this dress was more expensive than ones you’ll find in a regular chain store – I could literally see and feel the quality of the cotton fabric, and the craftsmanship that had gone into the design.
This wasn’t your standard ‘cookie-cutter’ children’s party dress; with its asymmetrical side panel and mismatched ribboning on the waist this was quirky and unique, and definitely not something you’d see on every other kid.
Big Sis’s tastes are much more ‘street’, so for her I chose this cute jumpsuit. I loved the fun pattern, and the fact this could be dressed down for a summer’s day out, or vamped up for a party. It’s also super comfy (which is one of Big Sis’s deal-breakers) and a unique alternative to traditional children’s party dresses.
To show off the outfits off we visited the stunning National Trust grounds of CLIVEDEN HOUSE after school one day, to enjoy one of its famous bluebell walks. It was the most gorgeous day – the first really warm weather this year – and we had such a nice afternoon wandering the grounds and taking photos amongst the colourful carpet of bluebells. So much so, we didn’t realise the property had actually closed and we had to make a mad dash back to the carpark!
On the way home we wound the windows down, turned the radio up and sang Justin Bieber songs all the way home.
