Messin’ with Muffins

I have a dream. In it, me and my two daughters are baking together, a smudge of flour on each cheek, laughing, the aroma of cookies wafting through the house…

Pah, who am I kidding? With my culinary abilities, it’s more likely to be the smell of smoke drifting down the hallway, than freshly baked biscuits.

Well, that was before I got my hands on the Little Dish Favourites Cookbook. Inside are 60 recipes plucked from their popular range of tasty kids’ dishes, and specially selected so your little ones can cook alongside you.

They’re tasty, nutritious, and so simple that even I couldn’t go wrong!! So, with renewed vigour (and the secret weapon cookbook tucked under my arm) I summoned the little one into the kitchen.

‘Wanna make some muffins?’ I asked. ‘Okay,’ she shrugged.

I picked the Fresh Fruit Muffins because they looked really easy yummy, and healthy enough that I wouldn’t feel guilty scoffing the end result, which – since you asked – were delish!! In fact, emboldened by how easy the recipes were, I got adventurous and added my own special twist. (OK, it was just a dash of cinnamon, but it made me feel like I actually knew what I was doing.)

Big Sis had a great time, spilling mixing all the ingredients together, and giving them the all important professional taste test.

So, here it is – our raspberry & apple Muffin journey, in pictures:

ingredients at the ready…
and we’re off!
uh-oh! those were supposed to go IN the mixture, not on the floor
lucky Mum bought another packet, huh?
gotta give this a good beating…
and give it the old taste test too…
nearly there!
looking good, and…
tasting great – phew!!

  1. They look delicious and surely you managed to save some of the raspberries thanks to the 5 second rule? (which is about a 5 minute rule in our house!)

We have the 5 second rule too for kid cooks. Muffing look yummy though! I have a little chef that loves cooking I’ll have to have a look at the book.
