It has recently come to my attention just how many silly nicknames I’ve accumulated for my daughter in two short years. Here they are, in alphabetical order:
Boo Boo – full name Boo-Boo McShoo-Shoo (eh??)
Bubba (or Bubba Chubba)
Bubsy Chubsy (or Bubsy Wubsy, or just Bubsy)
Chuppa Chups (Chuppa for short)
Monkey
Monkey Chunks
Moo Moo
Please tell me I’m not the only one that subjects my child to such ridiculousness???
PS: I was ‘Schnookemberry’ growing up, and my sister was ‘Herkum Schmerkel’. Perhaps I’m just carrying on a family tradition???
Not at all! My daughter is Piglet, Piggie, Miss P and Princess Piglet. When I was little I was my Grandpa’s ‘Chick’ and Dad’s ‘Muffin’!
You’re not alone Jac, my son gets Possum, Smoochy Woochy, Smoochy Face, Smoochy Head, Hug-a-Bug, Moo-Moo (that’s obviously a popular one!)Bub, Xandie Zoo, Munchkin… actually I wonder if he knows his real name? I must ask him in the morning.
Ah I call my daughter Boo as well!
She’s also known as Phea, Bill, Beeba, Billy Boo, Kitten and I could go on!
Best not start on the names I have for my son, we could be here a long time!!

I started out calling her Sugar, but it quickly became Sugar Bean and then just Bean, and now all sorts of derivations on that, such as Bean-Bean, Beantown, Beaner (no negative connotations here in Denmark, I promise), Beaner Wiener, etc. My Danish husband occasionally translates Bean-Bean, so Bønne-Bønne works too. I probably call her Bean orders of magnitude more frequently than I use her real name, even when I’m upset with her, talking about her to other people, or whatever! I’m surprised she even knows her real name!
Pass the Chablis: Bill? LOL! That’s almost as random as Chuppa Chups. Almost.
Lorry: I still call my cousin/best friend Bon-Bon. She HATES it!!!! Now she’s Aunty Bon-Bon to Lucia.
Slopey, Sloperoo, Slopey-Jackalopey, The Slope, Snuggle . . . list goes on and on!
Yep, I often call my dog Mikey ‘Bubba’ and have done so since he was a puppy so now responds to Bubba, Mikey Moo, Spikey Mikey and Woofer…daft dog!

You are not. I officially called my daughter: Bunnybutt Bubilicious Boom Boom Baby for ages. I now call her Bubba and Boogie. I have no idea what is wrong with me.
Munchkin, bubba, little one, sugar plum fairy, snuggle bum, I’m sure there are more!
Alethea: It’s a close call, but I think Slopey-Jackalopey is my fav!
Mrs Shilts: I always call dogs ‘Woofles’. Sounds like your dog is suffering from multiple personality disorder!!
Cross the Pond: isn’t it funny how nicknames are supposed to be easier versions of a name – yet they often end up much longer and more convoluted????
