The other day I was invited on a river cruise with a charming chap; he was a little on the short side, but up for a laugh and great company.
The occasion was to celebrate the launch of five new scrumptious flavours in the PG tips Green Tea range: Raspberry, Mint, Lemon Pie, Orange and Strawberry Cupcake.
We set off from Butler’s Wharf on a luxury paddle steamer (cool!) an overcast but warm London morning. Faced with the daunting choice of which new green tea to pick, I finally decided on Strawberry Cupcake because, well, Strawberry Cupcake!
Yes, it was as delicious as it sounds; fruity and smooth, with a subtle sweetness.
As we sipped our tea and enjoyed some yummy antipasto nibbles, I was introduced to the irrepressible Green Tea Monkey, and we hit it off straight away.

We decided to head outside to take in the waterfront sights, where Green Tea Monkey proved to be quite the tourist.

Tower Bridge, St Pauls, the V&A, Oxo Tower and the London Eye – he was a sightseeing simian whirlwhind! But then something else came into view… something big and green…

A giant two-storey PG tips Green Tea Monkey, made from 110,485 lacquered green tea leaves, right smack in the middle of the River Thames! Mini Green Tea Monkey couldn’t wait to tell his monkey mates (that’s him, bottom left).

After all that excitement we needed a break, so headed back inside for a calming cuppa.

Now, we all know PG tips green tea tastes great, but there are other benefits too – not only is the colour green thought to induce contentment and increase productivity, but green tea is a low-calorie, hydrating cup of calmness in an otherwise hectic day.

Haha I love this! I saw the Green Monkey on the TV I think… or was it Facebook? hmmm, either way it made me giggle. It looks like you had a lovely day. I’m not much of a tea drinker, and all the green teas I’ve tried so far have been awful. It does sound nice though, and I do like strawberries. 🙂
I’m not a huge tea drinker either (coffee all the way!) but the Strawberry shortcake one was actually really yum! x
