COMPETITION NOW CLOSED – BIG CONGRATS TO HELE FROM MILKPETAL WHO WAS SELECTED AT RANDOM…
When Lil Sis started crawling last week, my first thought was ‘Oh great! She’s crawling!!’. My next thought was: ‘Oh. Great. She’s crawling.’
Because, as us Mummies know, crawling babies open up a whoooooooole new world of worry. Intoxicated by her new-found freedom, Lil Sis is hurtling around our half-finished house – her legs pumping like pistons.
I’d forgotten just how darn tenacious kids are once they set their sights on something. Lil Sis has already demonstrated a bloody-minded determination for chewing power leads (she’s already ruined one iPhone charger by slobbering into the pluggy bit) jamming her little fingers into the DVD player, and wedging herself into strange little spaces that she can’t get out of.
And don’t even get me started about her barrelling towards the partly-renovated hallway, which still has sharp tacks left behind from the ripped up carpet.
Which allows me to segue neatly into the fact that this week, June 20-26, is actually Child Safety Week. Organised by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), the week aims to raise awareness of household accidents that can seriously injure or kill children, and advise parents on how to prevent them.
This year Child Safety Week is sponsored by Argos, and kids’ safety brand LINDAM.
I must admit I was dreading baby proofing the stairs, as I have a bit of an aversion to those white metal safety gates… until I saw Lindam’s luxury Numi range. These gates are seriously classy, and come in a dark stained wood, and a brushed stainless steel.
As soon as Lil Sis started taking those first tentative crawling motions, I got Monkey Dad to put up the silver Numi gate. The brushed steel finish looked fab – like a piece of designer furniture, rather than a functional safety equipment.
I thought it would be a pain to keep opening and closing every time I went up and down the stairs, but the gate is really smooth and easy to open, and clicks firmly shut behind you. The only trouble we had was that the opening to the top of our stairs turned out to be a slightly irregular size, so we had to jiggle around a bit with the width adjustment to get the exact fit.
Now I feel much safer, knowing Lil Sis can’t take a tumble down those steep stairs. It also has the added benefit of preventing Big Sis from getting up before me in the morning, and wandering downstairs to make a huge mess breakfast.
I reckon it looks pretty darn good – what do you think??
In fact, I think it looks so fantastic, I’d like you to have one too!!
Leave me a quick message below, and I’ll put you in the draw to win one of these fab Numi stairgates, worth £59.99! For a second entry Tweet the message ‘I’m in to win the @Lindam_UK Numi Stairgate #MLMgiveaway’. While you’re at it, why don’t you ‘Like’ the Lindam UK Facebook Page to hear all about their products and promotions.
Get entering, and Good Luck! And if you’re not the winner this time, you can always pick up your own Numi Stairgate from www.Argos.co.uk.
