CAKE-CRUSHING FUN (bake escape)

I’d like to start this post by thanking the makers of the BAKE ESCAPE game for creating such a devishly addictive, frivolously fun game. I’d like to follow that closely by cursing the makers of the Bake Escape game for making such a devishly addictive, frivolously fun game. Because I just. Can’t. Stop. Playing it.

Honestly, I’ve never been huge on app games; I never really saw the draw of Angry Birds, or the appeal of FarmVille. Yeah, they were vaguely interesting, but to spend hours hunched over a screen, feverishly conquering each level – who would do that? Me, it turns out. I would do that.

And not just playing it quietly, but taking to Twitter to beg for for tips from fellow players, and boasting when I finally complete a tough level. Yes, I’m now one of those people.

So what’s the big fuss all about? Allow me to explain… the biscuit-busting star of the show is Victoria Sponge, who’s trying to make her way to Paris, but she can only progress if and when you’ve smashed all the cookies, or reached a certain score on each level. Simple, right?

Yes. And no. Because, just as you think you’ve got the game sussed, and that you’re quite possibly the best Bake Escape player EVER, you reach a level that just outwits you at every turn.

My Bake Escape nemesis was Level 16; it took me FOUR DAYS to break out of that little cookie prison. Now I’m firmly stuck at Level 21 but I’m not giving up, even if I have to quit my job to play the game full time. OK, I’m not really going to do that (but I did consider it).

Anyway, don’t listen to me rabbiting on about it – download Bake Escape for yourself (just search Bake Escape in iTunes), and find out exactly what I mean. Just prepare to get pretty majorly hooked! • COMP NOW CLOSED • Also, if you fancy going in the draw to win an iPad Mini (rhetorical question – of course you do!) fill in the Rafflecopter form below. FYI: this giveaway is being hosted by several Bake Escape bloggers, but you can only enter via one; full deets below.

Oh, and if you figure out who to get past Level 21, let me know won’t you?
