CALL OF THE CUTIE (my little pony dvd review)

call of the cuties my little pony

The other week Big Sis was practising her Harvest Festival song, and I realised that her brilliantly kooky teacher had chosen: ‘Eat It’ by Weird Al Yankovich.

Cool, right?!

But what was even awesome-r was the look on Big Sis’ face when I joined with the words: ‘have some more yoghurt, have some more Spam, it doesn’t matter if it’s fresh or canned…’

‘How do you know the words Mummy?!’ She asked incredulously. Then I got to say that thing that really old people say: ‘I was around when that song first came out…’

And even though it made me feel about 500 years old to realise that the aforementioned original came out in 1984 (say what?!) it also gave me the warm fuzzies to think that my daughter and I had transcended the generational gap, and shared an honest-to-goodness moment.

Anyway, to cut a long story short – it’s kinda the same way I felt when the girls started watching My Little Pony too.

It was kinda cool to watch and reminisce (not to mention a brilliant excuse to spend a bit of time cuddled up on the couch with the girls).

Try it for yourself: watch the new My Little Pony dvd, CALL OF THE CUTIE, and tell me you’re not transported back to a land filled with white lace-up boot skates, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, and side ponytails *sighs nostalgically*.

• we were sent the My Little Pony dvd, Call of the Cutie for review
