Big Sis has been a bit obsessed with cooking recently. She often drags me over to the oven to show me the ‘pizza’ she’s made, and I’ll pull open the door to find a big wad of Playdoh jammed on a baking tray.
Then, of course, I have to pretend to eat it for the next 20 minutes, ooohing and aaahing over how delicious it is.
Today, however, she changed the menu…
Yes, that’s her sister’s Fisher Price Laugh and Learn shape sorter. Yes, the oven was on full blast (I turned it off before taking the photo). I came across ‘dinner’ after following a very strange scent wafting into the lounge.
By my reckoning, it had been baking for a good 10 minutes. It was very VERY hot – I had to use the oven mitts to get it out – but hadn’t started melting. Although a few minutes longer, and I reckon it would have looked less like a friendly yellow cookie jar, and more like a Salvador Dali sculpture.
Rather amazingly, it still worked perfectly, which says something about the durability of Fisher Price toys! Still, I think I’ll stick with chicken for dinner…

Hilarious! I’ve found the remote control in the washing machine but it’s exciting to see what they may do next!
Do you tell her anything after or are you happy for her to carry on and perhaps teach her an easy cake recipe… Kids can be useful.
Yes but did it stop singing, “Shapes are in my cookie jar!” which I think it actually kind of dirty as well as highly annoying…
I’ve loved catching up on all your news today (haven’t managed to look at my reader for weeks!) and seeing what your beautiful babies have been up to. Coco has just started putting things in the oven but hasn’t quite worked out how to turn it on… yet! x
Maria: I hope you found the remote BEFORE you did a load of washing!? Found the glass baby food jars all stacked in a teetering tower this morning – what will tomorrow bring??? x
I’m So Fancy: You’ll be relieved to know that somehow the Cookie Jar’s electronic vocal chords escaped unscathed! x
Louisa: I didn’t think Big Sis had worked out how to turn the oven on either!!! They grow up so darn quickly, don’t they? I remember you posting about Coco starting to walk, and now you’re having to use reigns to stop her running away! x
PS: Antigua??? Jealous!!
