CRAFTY CHRISTMAS CALENDARS
Prepare yourself, because I’m about to freak you out…. there’s only three weeks left until Christmas.
I know, right? How did that happen??
I adore Xmas, and this year is particularly exciting because Big Sis and Lil Sis are both old enough to really get into the Christmas spirit this year.
For me, the best presents aren’t the ones that cost lots of money, but the ones that are made with lots of love.
My parents live back in New Zealand, so pressies need to be fun, thoughtful AND easy to post! Like these fun home-made calendars, courtesy of the lovely folk at VISTAPRINT.
Here’s everything you’ll need to get you started:
• Printer
• A4 Paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Colouring pens or crayons
• Hole punch
• String, or pretty ribbon
Now the fun part! Time to let your little ones loose, and decorate the calendar. Why not experiment with different mediums?
• Drawings
• Family photos
• Leaves and pressed flowers
• Recycled cards
• Finger painting
• Magazine snippets
• Stamps and stickers
• Glitter glue
Or, use the fun, downloadable Xmas graphics at the bottom of this page. Once all the pages are decorated, it’s time to pull it all together; literally! Using your hole punch (or something sharp enough to pierce the paper) and make two holes at the top of each page, making sure they’re all evenly lined up.
Take a piece of string, or pretty length of Christmas ribbon, and thread it through all the holes. Tie the ends together, and Voila!
Not only have you kept the kids entertained for a few hours, you’ve got a unique, personalised calendar to send to the grandparents, and a lovely keepsake for yourself.
