CHRISTMAS BAUBLES // made with a sprinkle of love

The festive season is EXTRA special this year.

The girls are both in that small window of time when they’re old enough to comprehend what’s coming up, but still young enough to be utterly caught up in the magic of Christmas. Fingers crossed we’ll get a few more years out of them (please, please!), but you just never know when some smart-aleck kid with older siblings decides to burst the Santa bubble.

So we’re going all out this year – the tree went up on the first day of December, showing off our gorgeous new John Lewis Christmas tree decorations. We’ve got the regular Advent Calendar, with a little treat behind every door, and the Xmas Book Advent Calendar, where the girls pick a festive book each night to unwrap and read. And Mr Elf has returned (and been christened Northy Claus) and has been delivering a brand-new personalised ELFIE’S LETTER each morning. We’ve even completed our first Christmas craft (go me!).

My Mum lives in New Zealand which means we don’t get to spend the big day with her *sad face* so the girls and I decided to make a little something to remind her of us all – homemade Christmas decorations. I bought some fillable Xmas baubles from Hobbycraft and some little trinkets to go inside them: Xmas cut-outs, silver bells, and some brightly coloured wooden beads. The girls got to work filling our baubles, then lastly we added a sprinkle of sparkly glitter.

Et voila! Easy Christmas decorations children can make for friends and family.

Below is one of our homemade Christmas decorations – a colourful, jingly Xmas bauble. I put a little dab of glue along the join, to make sure they wouldn’t split open, and tied them at the top with a piece of brown twine. The little parcel tags were £2.40 for 25 from eBay, and the ‘Made with Love’ rubber stamp and ink set cost less than £5 from Hobbycraft.
