A few weeks back I told you about my meeting with the team at TRANSFORM to chat about non-surgical treatments. So, I thought you might like to hear about how it all went…
To recap, I wasn’t interested in wiping all the expression off my face – in fact I actually think that has the reverse effect and ends up making people look older. Rather, I just wanted to soften up the lines around my eyes; the ones that made me look tired (well, even more tired than I was).
Dr Ame knew exactly what I was talking about and explained, step by step, how she could achieve the results I wanted with Botox. She started by getting me to smile and frown, so she would see exactly where the lines were appearing, and which muscle groups she needed to target to erase them.
In my case she injected some Botox along my forehead, right below the hairline. This created a subtle upwards pull, just enough to lift my eyelids and reduce out the wrinkles around my eyes. She also used a bit under my eye to smooth out that ‘crinkly’ look I got when I smiled.
As with most non-surgical treatments, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, and farewelled from their New Cavendish Street clinic with instructions to try not to rub my face, or exercise for the rest of the day.
For the next month I kept a photo diary of the changes, taking pics around a week apart…

It can feel a bit strange as the muscles freeze – like a heaviness in the middle of your forehead – but as soon as you get used to it, you don’t feel that anymore. It’s also common to feel a bit of a tension headache as the Botox gets to work but, again, that doesn’t last long.
After the first week I could see the deep line at the corner of my eye (top left photo) was less pronounced. Over the next few weeks this effect gradually increased, very subtly lifting my brow, and opening up my eyelids. Then the lines under my eyes took a bit longer, but by week four they’d markedly softened too.
It wasn’t a massive change – I wasn’t trying to change my face, or shave 10 years off it – rather it just left me looking (and therefore feeling) more rested and refreshed.
What do you think?
