SWEET DREAMS AND SNUGGLES (the fine bedding company)
I have a confession: I’ve broken the number one rule of parenting – don’t let your kids rule the roost when it comes to bedtime.
OH and I were by the book with Big Sis. She slept in her own bed from the time she was a few months old and we were never tempted to break the night time routine and sneak her into our bed (cute as she was!).
But it was just different with Lil Sis. Maybe it’s because I knew she’d be our last baby and I was just that little bit softer on her, or because she’s such a cuddly Mummy’s girl who still wakes up at night calling for me.
Whatever the reason, I’ll often sneak her into the spare room for a cuddle, where we end up drifting off, all snuggled up next to each other. I’m fully aware that I’m making a rod for my own back, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: I don’t really care. I love it, and she loves it, and Daddy makes the most of a big bed to himself, so everyone wins!
The other night was a chilly one – the first proper Winter’s night so far. We’d been sent a 10.5 tog duck feather and down duvet from THE FINE BEDDING COMPANY to try out, so I made the bed up and we cuddled up underneath.
I’d opted for natural duck feather and down, as OH is allergic to polyester fibre, but apparently modern synthetic duvet fillers are actually the better option these days, because of their soft, natural feel and the additional temperature and humidity control they offer. Unrecognisable from the stiff scratchy dacron duvets of my childhood!
Lil Sis and I put our new duvet to the test, and we can report it was deliciously warm, soft and snuggly. So much so, when we woke up the next morning we were still lying in the exact same position – with her wrapped up in my arms.
Just lovely.
