Up until a few weeks ago my workspace consisted of my laptop perched on the arm of the sofa. But I recently upgraded… to an iMac at the end of the kitchen table. Alright, so it’s not exactly a corner office in the Shard, but it does the trick.
What has helped to redefine my little creative corner is the addition of an actual proper office chair. It’s a big step up from the squishy slouchy couch, and the butt-bruising plastic chair I’d been using previously.
It reminds me of days when I was still a staffer on a glossy magazine, when the work experience girl would bring you hot cups of tea, and every other day we’d have a calorie-laden cake to celebrate someone’s birthday. Man, those were the days… *trails off dreamily*
Alas, there’s no one handing me slices of gateau these days, just a three-year-old screaming down the stairs: ‘Muuuummy, come wipe my bum NOOOOOOOOOOW!’
But I digress.
So, back to my fabulous new chair. I’d used LAKELAND FURNITURE before, to buy our kitchen stools, so the first place I looked was their range of affordable designer office chairs. I instantly loved this Eames style (based on the iconic modern furniture design by Charles and Bernice Eames, no less).
It’s a cool, classy design, but still functional AND ergonomic too (my osteopath told me to get an adjustable gas lift seat, with arm rests, and a back that tilts – and this ticked all the boxes!). It retails for £74.99 – not a small chunk of pocket change – but I figured I’d be sitting on it all day, so I might as well be as comfy as possible. Since getting the chair I’ve noticed I’m getting less back and neck ache too, so I’m viewing it as an investment in my health too!
But enough talking about affordable designer office chairs – how cute does my chair model look?

Oh my, that’s a swish office chair – so much better than mine (a dining chair!!) and your model is beautiful xx
