SWORN ENEMIES & BEST OF FRIENDS // siblings, june 2017

Siblings June outdoor fun for kids

I’m proud of my girls for a thousand different reasons, but one of things I’m most grateful for is their friendship.

Yes, they argue – actual knock-down-drag-out fights at times – but even when they’re driving each other mad they literally can’t stay away from one another.

If I order them to stay on separate sides of the house they end up wandering round, looking slightly lost, until one of them sidles over and nonchalantly suggests: ‘Shall we play mums and dads..?

Within 10 minutes of screaming: ‘I wish I didn’t have a sister!’ they’re guaranteed to be screaming again – this time with laughter.

They write each other cards, and prepare each other surprise tea parties, and make each other ornate plates of food. Wherever they are – whether it be the back garden or exploring our local woodlands – they embark on the coolest adventures together. They’ll climb trees, and have running races, and embark on treasure hunts.

Sometimes one of them will grab the other in a bear hug, squealing: ‘Ooooooooh, I love you SO MUCH!

Bedtimes always consist much more of giggling than sleeping, and it melts my heart into a puddle to come upstairs and find this…

Awwww this is how I dreamed my children would be. Sadly they aren’t, mine are the ones who just do the fighting and not so much of the lovey dovey stuff. They do play well together when the mood takes them but that isn’t often. In my heart of hearts I still hope that in time they will grow to love each other more and will be there if they really need each other x

    • I was never very close to my sister growing up, but we’re good friends now – so there’s still hope!!! 😉 x

  2. Aww their sibling bond is so sweet even if they do argue occasionally they clearly have a very strong bond. My two are a bit of the same although my youngest is still quite small to understand everything right now but they certainly love each and other loath each other at times

  3. This is so precious! I deal with the same exact thing regarding my two girls…. they can be the worst of enemies but at heart are the best of friends.

  4. Oh siblings are like that … there are eight of us in my family our dynamics were always a pure love and competition/rivalry type sibling bond and we are so so close now as adults but this is so precious even if they have spats here and there. All part of growing up. Makes them closer than you can ever imagine. Who else knows your whole life and everything other than your parents… your amazing siblings. #siblingsproject

I know how this feels, me and my brother used to argue loads as kids but we’ve always been close as siblings x

  6. Oh my goodness they are the cutest! I’m not surprised it melts your heart finding them asleep like that. Me and my siblings were the total opposite growing up and just did the fighting in lumps part.

What a lovely post and this is my dream for my kids but they are always fighting every second and every minute I know they have grown up someday and being sweet to each other.

  8. My two are like this, It’s always so lovely to eavesdrop on their conversations.

Awwww, Yeah Siblings definetly have the moments of fighting then laughing. I remember many with my brother. That last pic is so sweet of them cuddling asleep 🙂

Hahaha awww, I think I was the same with my sister. We always fell out but I loved playing with her. I think annoying eachother was half of the fun.
