Once a year I get to dress up. I get to travel to a fancy London hotel. I get to meet some amazing women, and hear their remarkable stories. And I get a serious reality check.
Last weekend I had the honour of attending the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards 2015. It was the tenth anniversary, and the fourth time I’ve been lucky enough to attend, and each year the event surpasses the one before.
This year eight remarkable women were recognised (you can read all about their stories HERE) in a day filled with laughter, tears, catching up with old friends, and making new ones.
It began at the super-posh Savoy Hotel, where I met my lovely fellow bloggers, SLUMMY SINGLE MUMMY, MARI’S WORLD, KATE ON THIN ICE, ACTUALLY MUMMY, and MUMMY BARROW.
This year the other bloggers and I were able to meet the winners at a champagne reception beforehand, where I got to meet ‘my’ Tesco Mum, Lousie Fetigan (who I posted about HERE, and is fabulous). Then it was on to the most important part of the day… lunch.
Joking, obvs, but the lunch WAS yum!
Next, it was tissues at the ready as we listened to the stories of these awe-inspiring Mums. After four years you’d have thought I had heard it all. Nope. Once again I ended the night feeling humbled, inspired, and determined to be a better person.
